Tots Group provides a great opportunity for prospective Nursery children to become familiar with our staff, children and setting.

Parents and carers are able to meet each other and members of the Nursery staff, and play with their children. A small group of Nursery children are present to provide friendship and continuity.

The Nursery staff supervise and are responsible for the Nursery children. Parents attending the Tots Group must supervise their own children at all times.

Generally one member of staff supervises the "wet area" and the other "socialises" and supervises in the main area, and also provides a craft activity. The children have a snack and drink before going home.

The opportunity for tots and their parents to mix with the Nursery children helps them to get to know them as potential classmates; learn about the Nursery routines and activities; and become familiar with the codes of behaviour expected. Parents can see the way in which staff deal with situations and discipline the children.

The experience in Tots Group is extremely valuable and beneficial to children prior to starting Nursery, and usually helps them to settle easily when they join.
